Concrete solutions for a clean future
"It is important to realize that cities and municipalities are responsible directly or indirectly for more than half of the greenhouse gas emissions. EU commitments can be met only when stakeholders are involved at the local level and also where regional and local authorities set an example to follow for citizens. One of the main themes of the Healthy Cities, which peaked between 2008 - 2009 was sustainable energy. At the moment some of our members are highly advanced cities, which systematically lead their path towards energy self-sufficiency and become an example for other cities and towns, not only in this country but also in the European context."
National Network of Healthy Cities is an association of active local governments, which are committed to the principles of sustainable development, involve the public in decision-making processes and promote a healthy lifestyle of its inhabitants. In summary, the Healthy Cities, municipalities and regions are deliberately trying to shape the city (town, region) as a high quality, healthy, enjoyable and sustainable place to live, based on an agreement with the locals.
Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg are attempting the first round-the-world solar flight, an adventure to promote the use of clean technologies.
Clean technologies used on the solar aircraft could be used on the ground and reduce 50% of our world’s energy consumption... as of today. But for this, we need political courage and pioneering spirit.
We launched the #futureisclean initiative to create a federation of organizations pushing the replacement of old polluting devices by existing clean technologies.
Join Bertrand Piccard’s approach to show that climate change is not an expensive problem requiring heavy financial and behavioral sacrifices, but rather a unique opportunity for profit and job creation:
Just like onboard Solar Impulse, solutions already exist to reduce energy consumption. We have gathered 357 organizations around this initiative. Some of them sent the solutions they wanted to promote at COP21.
The vote is now over, here are the top 5 solutions you voted for!
